About Bucher Commercial and Industrial Painting

In 1983, the commercial and industrial painting company B. William Bucher, Inc was founded to serve the needs of customers throughout Ohio, Michigan, and across the country. In August of 2021, Grant Ansel purchased the company from Jim Bucher. Grant has since partnered with Leo Kay who has an extensive background in polymers, account management and estimating. Today, 39 years later, Bucher Painting is still serving the needs of commercial, industrial, and institutional clients throughout the region.

Along with commercial and industrial painting, the company's offerings also include drywall finishing, wall coverings installation and electrostatic painting.

Recent significant projects include painting the interior of the Toledo Hospital Generations Tower, The Toledo Bankruptcy Court, and the Spartan Chemical Company's newest facility.

Meet The Partners

Grant Ansel – From as long as I can remember, my life has been saturated with construction and contracting. When I was young my parents owned a residential general contracting firm. When I was sixteen I began laboring for a local commercial contractor. After graduating from college with a degree in finance and accounting, I worked as a controller with experience in general contracting and self-perform roofing and painting. My desire is to ensure a superior experience for our customers, general contractors, and employees alike.

At home I enjoy spending time with my wife of eighteen years and three daughters.

Leo Kay – I am the lead estimator and co-project manager.  I began my career as an engineer in the auto industry with an initial focus on polymers. I bring over 23 years of experience in engineering, program management and sales to the team.  I am excited to continue the success, growth & expansion of Bucher Painting’s service offerings.  I’ve always loved construction and spent several years in home improvement while working on my engineering degree.  On the side, I love woodworking and building furniture.  On the home front, I stay very busy with my wife of 20+ years and four children engaging in life and our home church, Redeemer Fellowship.

Together Grant and Leo have brought a new culture and philosophy to Bucher Painting. The team plans to expand the company's offerings beyond painting and tape and finish work.
